Little Farm in the Big Woods

sweet, sweet rain

Ahhhh.  I love the smell of rain.  It’s so refreshing and invigorating.  We got just a few minutes of wild rain last night.  We laid there enjoying the sound for a few minutes, before leaping out of bed, remembering that we had things outside that shouldn’t be!  Oops!

This morning we woke up to the sound of crazy thunder.  Lightning was lighting up our room & the thunder, crashing right over our heads- I love it!!  We could see it even better once the power went out.  (Fortunately the coffee got finished before the power went out!  That would have been a real crisis.  ;)  The lightning and thunder went on for about two hours before the rain started, and then the heavens opened up.  Great, huge raindrops, falling out of the sky, were washing all the farm dust off of our trees, and making them vibrant green again, and watering all of our plants that were beginning to look so dry now that it’s August.

~a fresh morning in the barnyard~

Now it’s just a gentle sprinkle outside, the water slowly seeping into the ground and making our little farm all nice and fresh and clean.  Our chickens are out, pecking around, enjoying a little shower.  Angel, our baby goat, is ricocheting off the walls of the barn, all worked up by the noise & rain.   Roofio, our rooster, is crowing his delight for all to hear, and I can hear our little mountain birds, chattering and creating little showers of their own, each time they land on a branch.

Hope you’re having a delightful morning too, whatever the weather is like!
